Hi, I'm new here 😊

Hi,

my name is andy and I’m working as a generalist for more then 15 years.
For the last years mostly using unreal as our main tool.

Just a few words why I’m here, I came across the news about “uniform” so the idea using the iPad for 3D doodles using poly modeling “reborn”.

Uniform felt somehow strange to me, at least what I have seen in my research so far …
It may have the most features and a complete new thinking, but I’m not sure if I like or need this …

As I looked for alternatives to uniform some apps got my attention, valences was the first, secondly DGart, I must say that I almost bought DGart and not valence because it seems that it has more options right now.
But again, it felt not right for what ever reason…

So I followed my first impression and bought valence yesterday.
I use and used so many 3D apps (on pc, Mac, iPad) that I follow my stomach in this situations.

I’m saying that because I read some comments from you where you seemed to be somehow “down” and unsure if you could bring valence to the state you have in your head.
So, keep on ! Don’t give up!

I know that valence is no “modo” (btw. My main weapon for modeling) or “maya” so I don’t expect to much in short time but I will post my experience or problems here if I have the time.

(Will do later, as I had a bug a few minutes ago)

Cheers, Andy

Oh, one more …

as I told you I use modo from the foundry mostly for modeling, they added so many non modeling features to it over the years, that for my taste they loosed focus in what modo is really good, MODELING!

I was a long time beta tester for the foundry so I had a good view on it, I liked the new features first, but modo became slow after some new versions and made quite some problems.

So, please don’t try to make valence a super power all in one app, I really don’t care to much about rendering, animation or sculpting when opening valence, I like to model using polygons, nor do I like to sculpt here. We have good apps for that already but not a powerful poly tool which is fun to use.

Oh, I need divisions for the bevel tool by the way …:rofl::rofl:

Hey Andy! Thank you for investing in Valence. Its true, I’ve been a bit down about Valence because people either love it or think its “completely useless”.

Valence is still very young in comparison to other modeling tools on the market (less than one year old). Its my first 3D modeling but not my first product.

I’m not giving up on it, I work it on whenever I possibly can, nights, weekends, and the 1 day a week I have free when I’m not working / freelancing.

I’m focused on making Valence the best 3D polygon modeling app there is out there. I’m working on a lot of new premium features for the next version of Valence in addition to a lot of bug fixes.

Your feedback is very important and I appreciate you signing up and posting here. Let me know if there are any other issues you encounter.

Also – bevel segments will come eventually. For now I think the best option is to use the subdivision modifier and crease the edges you need to be more or less rounded.
