I’m looking at refurbished ipads on amazon but wanted to ask what people are using. One thing that really annoys me in Valence3D is the trashbin icon on the right toolbar is hidden in my ipad 6th gen. So how about newer ipads? Anyone using ipad mini? Is the screen ppi high enough to show the UI properly?
I have a ipad mini and Ipad Pro 12.9 M2. On the mini it’s hidden while in landscape but visible in portrait. On the Pro it’s visible in both landscape and portrait.
Thanks! The icon thing is really annoying. I have to scroll to the bottom of the toolbar to access the trashbin. So I guess only pro models would have the whole UI visible. The 9th gen normal models are cheap I wonder how it looks there.
If you can afford it I would go with the iPad Pro as they have more ram. I’ve seen memory warnings on the mini which only has 2.5 gig of memory. Especially if I have a few other apps open and working on something with allot of geometry.
iPad Pro 12.9 M1. It’s super fast.
Out of my budget unfortunately. $199 for the ipad is my limit.
I use an 11” M1 iPad Pro. The trash icon is visible when in landscape. . I would definitely recommend an M1 iPad, whether an Air or a Pro. Or if you can spring for it, an M2 or M4. The M1 is still performing beautifully, so I think the M1 would be sufficient if you’re on a budget. You get so much more performance with the M-Series chips, and I use my iPad as my primary computer. I use it in place of a laptop. .
I just saw your comment about your budget. I think a base iPad would probably be sufficient, but you won’t be able to work on as big of projects due to the RAM and performance differences. It’s ultimately up to you, and it depends on what you’re using it for. If you’re just doing some small recreational 3D models, I don’t think it would be a big issue, but if you’re using this more professionally, then I would definitely spring for a higher configuration.
